FOOTBALL is the core MTGK activity. We now have over 150 girls football teams.  Every year we hold three football tournaments in Kilifi for primary schools, secondary schools and out of school teams.  We also participate in tournaments outside of Kilifi.  In 2006 we have played in two tournaments in Nairobi, organized by MYSA and UNICEF.  In both we reached the quarterfinals. 

League matches are played in four divisions (Bahari, Kaloleni, Ganze and Vitengeni).  There are two categories: Open age and under twelve. There are 24 Under 12 teams and 21 open age teams.

All tournaments and leagues are organized by girls’ committees.  Each division has a girls’ committee made up of players and referees.  They are responsible for budgets and expenditure, team lists, match reports and any disciplinary issues that might arise.

All matches are officiated by girls trained by the Kenya Football Federation (KFF).  There are 16 girls who have been trained in refereeing.
