Dorcas Kamuya

Dorcas joined MTK in 2006 as an Advisory Board member. Before that I had a short stint of running the organisation while the manager was on maternity leave. The experience of practically being involved in day-to-day planning, managing of activities, and working with MTG girls made me realise how much fun it can be to work with girls, to listen to their stories, to share in their ups and downs, and still to stand aside and become a mentor, someone they can open up to. It also made me understand much more the livelihood struggles  girls and women  in Kilifi face in their daily lives and the difficult choices and decisions they make.  I have to admit that I found it sometimes emotionally challenging. MTG strives to offer opportunities to young girls and women of Kilifi, to grow to be whomever they want to be in life and to be ambassadors  and role models to other girls in similar situations. 

There are so many things I love, but one thing that touches me deeply is when in one way or another, I reach out to someone in need and put a smile in their face! That makes my day!
