MTG celebrates the Day of Persons with Disabilities

On December 3, the world will celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The theme of this year is: "Together for a better world for all: Including persons with disabilities in development"

MTG will celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with:

  • A workshop for MTG officials in awareness on sport and disability on November 30 in the MTG office
  • The organization of football activities during an International Day of the Persons with Disabilities celebration as a partner of the Kaloleni Disability Mainstreaming Committee on December 3 at Kizurini Primary School in Kaloleni.
  • An event for all MTG girls with disabilities in Mnarani on December 3 at the MTG field between 10.00 am and 14.00 pm. Girls will play football and participate in peer education sessions.

Moving the Goalposts Kilifi includes girls with disabilities in its programme. In 2011 fifteen players from Mackion field in Kilifi, that accommodates MTG members from Kibarani school for the deaf, have been trained in sign language. Twenty MTG officals (girls between 11 - 21 years) have been trained in awareness about girls with a disability. These officials have recruited forty girls with disabilities who are participating in MTG's regular actitivies. MTG has also organizes an annual tournament for girls in special units and special schools.
