About Us

MTGK is managed by a local advisory board, 5 staff members, one VSO (voluntary services overseas) volunteer, 30 volunteer peer educators and 4 girls’ committees.

Staff:
s1Leah Gandi
Office Support, peer educator, referee, coach and player.
She is a very busy girl who rotates between the office, field and peer education.  She keeps the office clean and tidy, picks up the post and makes sure there is a cup of tea for everyone. She loves cars and is saving up to buy one in future. She is very young and left school after just five years of primary education.  Through MTGK she has become focused and has purpose in her life.

s2Rose Maua Konde
Football & Sports Coordinator, referee, coach and player
“Maua” meaning flower has been with MTGK since from the start (2001). She is able to organize and manage any event, network with other organizations and has lots of confidence.  Organizers of secondary school ball games have often tapped her refereeing skills

s3Lydia Kasiwa
Lydia Kasiwa is the peer health education coordinator.  She took on this role in February 2007, having volunteered for MTGK as a peer educator.  She is also a very active footballer, being a strong and speedy right back for Black Mamba football club.  Lydia has travelled to Pemba in Tanzania and Calabar in Nigeria with Moving the Goalposts.  In 2007 she will make presentations on her work with MTGK at the Moi University International Annual Conference and at the Next Step conference in Namibia.

s4
Sarah Forde Owuor
Monitoring, evaluation and research coordinator, coach, player and founding member of MTGK.
Came to Kilifi from England, fell in love with Kilifi, and through marriage made it her home. Has a big heart for the “Kilifi girl” and is getting lots of inspiration from her two daughters, Flo and Isabel.  Helping develop a participatory monitoring evaluation and research programme with 4 MTGK girls.

s5
Margaret Belewa
MTGK Coordinator
Joined MTGK in June 2005. Margaret stays in the office when everybody else goes to the field to play or do peer education.  You will always find her behind a computer doing one thing or the other, or on the phone perhaps talking to one of the girls. “The MTG ball should never stop, it has to keep rolling.”
